GET SPOTTED

Galela Amanzi is the Rhodes campus project for 2009 which focuses on the installation of water tanks in the Grahamstown community. For a detailed account of Galela Amanzi’s history as well as operational capacity and goals, see the attached document.

The committee is focused on establishing three goals:
1. Implementation of tanks in the greater Grahamstown area.
2. Getting the Rhodes community involved in the project, through fund-raising and awareness-raising initiatives, as well as participation in setting-up the tanks.
3. Seeking external sources of funding, including Rotary and Corporate Social Investment.

Get spotted is a creative blur of sweat-dripping, adrenalin-pumping action: a competitive event that requires a whole load of energy, enthusiasm and saying the word ‘cheese!’ In two hours, participants compete to complete the maximum number of tasks and capture them on camera.

Event details:
When: Saturday 16th May
Where: Swimming pool / Union
Cost: R10 per person (teams of minimum 3, maximum of 6)

Time: Registration – 9:30, Starts @ 10am, ending @ 12.
After the competition officially closes at 12, there will be drinks, boerie rolls, a DJ and much festivity (and hopefully sunshine) at the pool.
Prize: A day trip at Kariega 5 Star Game lodge, including a game drive and lunch.

Candice Daubermann, a member of the winning team of ‘Galela Get Spotted’ 2008, had to this to say about the experience:

We were welcomed by fantastic staff who treated us to a wonderful day consisting of a fabulous game drive and gourmet meal. After sighting 4 of the big 5 we all sat down to an amazing buffet lunch, with views of the surrounding game reserve and surrounding Kenton area! A day never to be forgotten!
