Galela Amanzi tank handover

The week of 1st – 5th March has been dubbed ‘Water and Sanitation’ week by the Eastern Cape Department of Education, which in itself is timely considering the recent drought and admission by Makana Municipality of the presence of e-coli in the Grahamstown water. Galela Amanzi is a student project in the Community Engagement Office and active in its new capacity as a student society under the S.R.C. Galela Amanzi seeks to increase access to water in disadvantaged areas in Grahamstown by establishing water tanks in key areas.

On the 4th March, Galela Amanzi, in collaboration with Umthathi and Samuel Ntsiko Primary School, will launch their 8th rainwater tank.

Venue: Samuel Ntsiko Public Primary School
Time: 12:00 – 13:00 (refreshments served in the staff room afterwards).
Student transport: Meet at 11:30 – outside the Community Engagement office (housed in the same building as the Centre for Social Development (C.S.D.) on Prince Alfred Street).

In addition Galela Amanzi supported by, its partnership with the Community Engagement Office and a local NGO, Umthathi Training Project, will present on its current projects, the impact Galela Amanzi has had on the community in addition to other water-related issues. The Galela Amanzi presentation is on the 4th of March at 1900 in Eden Grove Blue
