Locals denied access to ATMs

Hi-Tec security guards allegedly locked out local Grahamstown social grant beneficiaries from using the ATMs at the Steven Biko Union on 31 July. The main entrance to the Steve Biko Union was locked and only students who had their student cards could enter.

Manager of the Campus Protection Unit (CPU), Towers Naidu, claims that no instruction was explicitly given to refuse entry to anyone who was not a Rhodes University student.  When asked about the incident, Naidu commented that he was previously unaware of the incident and would begin investigating the allegation.
