General Bursaries, Scholarships and other awards are listed in the University's brochure which is available from the Research Office. This gives details of awards available from statutory bodies (e.g. The NRF, HSRC and MRC), trusts and industries.

The William Waddell Bursary Trust offers several bursaries to exceptional students wishing to read for a degree in Zoology, Entomology or Marine Biology. The award may be held in addition to any grants obtained from statutory bodies. Applicants should address enquiries to the Head of Department and include a certified copy of their academic record and the names and addresses of two referees.

Postgraduate Research Bursaries are offered to postgraduate students through individual staff members for work on specific projects. Contact the relevant member of staff for details.‌
