The water supplies around Grahamstown - and Rhodes University - have been getting lower and lower. At last, water restrictions are to be imposed! Residents are not permitted to use hosepipes or irrigation systems, nor wash their cars with municipal water.
We would be well advised to adopt wise water practices as a matter of habit. This is in our own interests in the long term - if we would like to have a sustainable supply of water. This would include harvesting rain water, re-using grey water in the garden, and moving towards a 'water neutral' way of life.
