Sofia LAZAR, an MSc student specializing in water resources, made a noteworthy contribution to the 2023 CPGS Conference under the esteemed African Water Resources Mobility Network (AWaRMN) project. Her presentation unveiled key findings derived from her Master's research, which delved into the profound impact of climate change on water quality within the context of the Grootdraai Dam catchment, situated in the Upper Vaal region of South Africa. The crux of her research endeavor revolved around the ability to predict water quality under the influence of evolving climate conditions, coupled with the concurrent demands of water usage from coal mines, industrial activities (including power stations), and agricultural practices.

Sofia's work sought to provide a comprehensive understanding of the future water quality scenarios within the Grootdraai Dam Catchment.
