Rethabile Mawela has a PhD in Education: English Language Teaching from Rhodes University. She is the Alan Macintosh Research Fellow in the Institute for the Study of the Englishes of Africa (ISEA). Her passion is reading; as such her research focused on the teaching of reading. She teaches Curriculum Studies and the Extensive Reading research modules to B.ED (in-service) students. She also teaches the Reading to Learn (RTL) pedagogy to B.ED Honours students in the Education department. In addition, she supervises M.Ed. English Language Teaching candidates.
