Hi, my name is Regina Kayoyo from Uganda, am currently doing my honours in Industrial and Economic Sociology at Rhodes University. The focus of my research is on the introduction of Genetically Modified Organisms in Uganda and the possible benefits and costs new technology like this will have for the country and the people. GMOs include crops, vegetable and fruits, these foods are mostly derived from organisms whose genetic material (DNA) has been modified in a way that does not occur naturally or traditionally. I feel that introducing technology like this will have important economic benefits for the country through the increase in productivity but also hidden in this productivity are the social costs that should be addressed.
