My name is Nqaba Dano from Kokstad Kwa-Zulu Natal. I did my undergraduate degree at Rhodes University majoring in Psychology and Sociology. I am currently doing a Bachelor of Social Science Honours in Sociology.
The fifth national elections are coming up on the 7th of May 2014 and since it has been 20 years after the first democratic election that South Africa had in 1994. I am interested in researching what the children born in 1994 the so called born free think and feel about being eligible to vote for in the national elections. Furthermore I am interested in researching whether they have registered to vote and their reasons for wanting to vote in the national elections. I will be looking at students at Rhodes and the youth from Grahamstown, this will be done in order to conduct a cross-sectional study. This study will investigate whether the social standing of the youth affects their perception of voting and registering for the national elections.
