Michael Abiodun Oyinloye

Michael Abiodun Oyinloye was born in Lagos, Nigeria. He hails from Esie (the home of Nigeria’s famous soap stone) in Kwara state and celebrates his birthday on 1st January of every year. He is happily married to Mrs. Olufunke Oyinloye and their marriage is blessed with children.

He started with General Arts and Painting at the Lagos state polytechnic Isolo, Lagos state, University of Maiduguri, Borno State, and Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun State. He holds a PhD. degree in Art and Cultural Resource Management from the University of Ibadan, Oyo state, Nigeria.

Since 1992, he has participated in several exhibitions in Nigeria and abroad; he has also awards and commendations to his credit. His recent works encompass drawing, painting realism and semi abstract expressions rendered in relief forms and mixed-media. His paintings are making clear emphasis on the documentation of Nigerian art traditions and culture in the past, for present and future generations. His works focuses on how contemporary artists appreciate culture, thereby using elements in them to promote and preserve values that abound in them.

Finally, Dr. Oyinloye has passion for the care and maintenance of historical arts, cultural objects, vis-a-vis contemporary artworks in order to prolong their lifespan. He has published, delivered papers at national and international conferences, workshops, and supervises students’ projects. He constantly makes art and conserves art.
