Salimisa Bikani, Sibabalwe Tsili and Athule Daniels are beneficiaries of the Transnet Foundation and Kingswood College partnership programme. This programme is part of a national Transnet Foundation initiative that is giving orphaned and vulnerable children an extraordinary opportunity in life by placing selected candidates in independent schools around South Africa on a supported scholarship programme.

These learners entered Kingswood in Grade 8 and are now currently sitting for their final Grade 12 exams. They have all done exceptionally well in their midyear exams and, as a result, have been accepted in various tertiary institutions for 2020. Transnet will continue funding them until they complete their undergraduate studies.

The learners have shown gratitude towards the Transnet Foundation and especially to Transnet Education Foundation Manager, Ms Vivian Moila. “Thank you for the opportunity and for making me part of the family I have at Kingswood and Transnet Foundation”, said Athule. “Thank you for enriching my life with the camps we had, teaching us valuable life lessons that we can take on going forward”, added Sibabalwe. Salimisa also said that being part of this programme has motivated her to go out and make a positive mark in the world.
