Temporary Teaching

Management Lecture in Progress

Temporary Teaching usually applies to instances where expertise does not exist in-house to cover certain sections of the core or augmented teaching programme. Temporary teachers are then employed for short periods to provide the required expertise.

BUDGETS

The funding needs to be applied for annually in advance of appointing such staff. For more information on the budget process, refer to: http://www.ru.ac.za/humanresources/policiesandinfo/information/budget/  and Guidelines for the Temporary Teaching Budget Process

The temporary teaching budget does not apply to relief teachers employed during the illness or absence (other than for planned academic leave) of a member of the academic staff or where there is a vacancy.

Departments wishing to have permanent additional academic support in the form of teaching assistants or lecturing staff should make application for these new posts via the Staffing Committee. For more information refer to: http://www.ru.ac.za/humanresources/leadingacademicstaff/staffnumbersandposts/
