Temporary Teaching usually applies to instances where expertise does not exist in-house to cover certain sections of the core or augmented teaching programme. Temporary teachers are then employed for short periods to provide the required expertise.
BUDGETS

The temporary teaching budget does not apply to relief teachers employed during the illness or absence (other than for planned academic leave) of a member of the academic staff or where there is a vacancy.
Departments wishing to have permanent additional academic support in the form of teaching assistants or lecturing staff should make application for these new posts via the Staffing Committee. Remuneration for temporary appointments is determined by the HR Division. Information can be found in: Allowances and Payments 2016
Please note that no department should be inviting prospective temporary teachers to the institution without a formal letter of invitation and letter of offer by the HR Division. This is important for the following reasons:
