Hompashe

Dumisani Hompashe has over eight years of experience working in the higher education sector. He started working as a lecturer at the University of Fort Hare in 2013. He also serves as Research Associate at the Research for Socio-Economic Policy (ReSEP) and the Institute of Social and Economic Research in Stellenbosch University and Rhodes University respectively.


He obtained a Secondary Teacher's Diploma from the then Griffiths Mxenge College of Education in 1990. In 1998, he acquired a Certificate in Environmental Education from Rhodes University. He got his BA degree in Economics and English from the University of South Africa in 2001. He also attained BA Honours (Financial Economics) and MCom (Financial Markets) from Rhodes University in 2004 and 2009. In March 2021, he graduated his PhD (Economics) from Stellenbosch University.

His research interests include the quality of education and healthcare, inequality of education outcomes, and development economics.

Competencies: Data analytic techniques, Qualitative data collection methods, Use of various statistical software packages including Stata, SPSS and Eviews.
