Friday 7 November at the Old Edwardian Club in Lower Houghton was a time for reminiscing, reconnecting, and making new connections. Some of the Rhodes graduate achievers in journalism and general media practice got together to connect socially and professionally.
A total of 25 alumni attended, among whom were:
Kevin McCallum, Chief Sports writer for Independent Newspapers,
Talifhani Munzhedzi from SAFM,
Ntyatyi Petros deputy editor of Business Report,
Steven Grootes, 702,
Natalie Dixon 8 INK MEDIA Digital Publisher (seventeen, National Geographic SA),
Ayanda Mbanga, MD of Ayanda Mbanga Communications,
Futhi Ntshingila, author, SA Presidency.
There was great interaction among everyone, who enjoyed the food and drinks while they engaged in conversation.
Head of School Guy Berger did a presentation about the highlights of what has been happening in and around the Africa Media Matrix, and thanked Telkom for its sponsorship. The alumni participated by asking questions about the school. Three alumni also volunteered to contribute first year scholarships, and others completed membership forms. Almost none of the paraphernalia that was on display was left behind, which shows the participants’ interest in the school and its activities
