If you say, Linda Marais at JMS, many staff and students are likely to salivate with thoughts about muffins and other baked delicacies. Linda Marais has been the finance assistant at the School since 1 June 2004.
Her specialisation in finances has taken her to a new role at Rhodes Research as admin in finance. A tea and cake party was held on 29 June as her farewell honour.
She says her highlight at JMS was, “working with tremendous people and making good friends“.
Marais has been selling muffins to JMS staff and students and recalls how she started: “I was broke so I started baking”. Self-taught from recipes, she cooks up goodies that her customers can’t stop eating.
Over the years, she has bought herself a car with the money she made through her baking. “As a result one of my friends calls my car The Ice Muffin”.

Marais wakes up at 4:30am every day to bake her daily stock. The JMS students and staff can rest assured to know that Linda may have left JMS, but her muffins will be still available at the regular spot at the regular price.
