Welcome back to the AMM

JMS extends a warm welcome to students and staff coming back to the African Media Matrix building. The students were on a four week winter vacation while staff members Jeane Prinsloo and Eitan Prince were on year long sabbaticals.

Jeanne Prinsloo was based in Kwazulu Natal province. As part of her sabbatical she visited Chicago where she attended and presented a paper titled, “Sexualising of girls in TV programmes made for girls” at the International Communication Association Conference. She is back to assume her role as professor, teacher and researcher. She also supervises honours and masters students.

Prince was spotted heavily engrossed in his work at the radio shack after a yearlong sabbatical at the University of Maryland – Philip Merril College of Journalism in USA.

As part of his 10 month long participation at the Hubert, H. Humphrey Fellowship programme he “took classes to compare US and Rhodes journalism teaching and training experience”. He has been in his office at AMM since mid June to teach 3rd year radio and also convene critical media production.

Another welcome goes to Cathy Winter, Paul Hill's leave replacement, she will be with us at AMM for terms 3 & 4.
