The JMS staff component increased as two new staff members, Thomas Kapena and Zwelibanzi Boma joined the big family recently. A tea party was held in their honour as a gesture of welcome.

Kapena “came all the way from Russia via PE to Grahamstown”,said Joe Alfers, the JMS technical manager during the brief welcoming party. He has been at Tver Technical University in Russia.

Originally from Zambia, he left his home country in 2003 to pursue a BSc in computer science. Asked why he chose a university so far away from home, Kapena responded, “I grew up hearing that the best computer study are in Russia”.

During his study, Kapena took two parallel jobs as junior software developer and a web developer. He is fully appreciating the local scene and weather as opposed to the Russian snow. “I like Eastern Cape and the Grahamstown tranquillity said Kapena. He will work as JMS multimedia/web co ordinator.

Boma has spent his last dozen years working between Joburg and Pretoria. “I have been in more than 24 jobs in the 12 years in Gauteng”, said Boma. The majority of companies he worked for were chartered accountants. He possesses extensive practical business knowledge and experience in the financial field as a result. Boma joins JMS as the projects administrative assistant.
