While most were preparing for end -of -year closing parties last December, the School of Journalism and Media Studies had the pleasure of welcoming Grant de Beer to its staff. Grant joins the school as an electronics engineer and his day-to-day job at the Africa Media Matrix building includes repairing all computer equipment.
This is a man who’s technical and electronic experience spans 18 years, including owning and operating his own business in computer and office equipment repairs. What’s a career without international experience? Well, Grant has tasted the international world by working and staying in Australia for four years. He’s also lived in Nelspruit, Gauteng, Boknes … and now Grahamstown. When asked about his next stop, Grant simply smiles and says that only time will tell but for now it seems that Rhodes University has captured his heart.
