Graduating at Forty
By Siyasanga Tyali
As per tradition every early autumn, Rhodes Journalism and Media Studies hosted a party for graduates on 9 April. The party is often the last send-off for the graduates and a chance for them to mingle with one another, and with their former teachers.
Rhodes JMS is in its 40th year, so graduates know they are walking in the footsteps of many others who have gone before them.
A total of 126 JMS students graduated this year: four with the MA, 37 with the PDMM and PGDip; 56 with the BJourn and 29 with a BA (JMS as one of the majors). The school had 19 students graduating with distinction.
Congratulations to all of them.
