  • 16 July- attended council meeting-These meetings are mostly on Monday to discuss the plans we have for the week, students matter and what we have achieved the week before.
  • 25 July- attended student parliament for constitutional review-The SRC call an emergency sitting with students parliament to discuss the changes in the constitution and have the students parliament come with their own changes and share their opinions and thoughts.
  • 26 July- attended internal cluster meeting-Cluster are very important internal meeting within the SRC, where we meet up with Vice President, divided into 3 different groups, the executives, the internal and external SRC and we discuss our plans, aims and goals for each term and how we plan on executing them.
  • The Total shutdown -The Rhodes University SRC in collaboration with the student body and the Community at large marched together in the Grahamstown Community from the Rhodes Arch to the back of St Michael and St George Cathedral, where women of the community were given a chance to express themselves and speak against gender based violence.
  • 2 August- attended student body meeting-I help with the student body poster, help advertising the student body meeting and attended it
  • 3 August- Silence Protest-The Rhodes SRC was in Solidarity with the student body of Rhodes University on the 3rd of August 2018, and attended the events planned out for the day. We felt that it was very important that we as SRC let students know that we are right behind them and for those who have been violated to know that “We Believe them”.

  • 5 August- had an emergency meeting to discuss academic shutdown-The passing of Ms Khensani moved mostly the whole student body and cause a panic among the students, when we as the SRC saw this; we saw it fit to have an immediate meeting on the evening of Sunday.
  • 6 August- Met with student body at 9am and marched to the main admin building-We met with the student at purple square and led them to the admin building, we then discuss the way forward and took action
  • 6 August- Had two meetings with management-As the result of what the students requested, we then met up with management to discuss the events of the next day for the shutdown and receive permission for it. Which was a great success.
  • 6 August- Later at 6pm, attended silent protest event-I attendant as an SRC member the talk organized by Silent Protest, titled Shifting the blame talk, a Talk By Professor Pumla Gqola and Mx Andile Gaelesiwe.
  • 7 August- Academic activities were suspended for educational programmes which were suggested by student body-On this day we, the SRC led the student to the Monuments. This was requested by the students on the first day of academic shutdown and students felts that if Ms Khesani had not died she would have finished her journey at the monument graduating.
  • 10 August- attended SRC Grazzle-This is an event where the student gather together to question the candidate running for SRC of the following year
  • 16 August- attended SRC inauguration rehearsal -This is an event in preparation for the official event, where current SRC meets up with candidate running and practice for the handing over to the winners.
  • 16 August- attended council meeting at 18:30-SRC council meeting
  • 17 August- attended SRC inauguration-We attendant the official event, were the SRC 2019 was announced.
  • 20 August- attended Student Services meeting-This is another platform the SRC has to discuss with management on student matters
  • Help Madam Community Engagement with the matric drive collection-I help Madame Community Engagement Councilor with the poster and advertising, and also helped with the matric dressing coming from Johannesburg and attendant the day of delivery to Nstika High School
  • Help with the benefits concert posters-Help advertise with the benefit concerts and got a designer to design the poster for me
  • Trading lives-Took part in trading like with Ntsika High school organized by Madame Communit Engagement
  • Purple Thursday where we were giving away clothes-I advertise to let student know that on purple Thursday Ubuntu fund was asking for donations and giving away clothes to students
  • Radio Voice Notes-Request voice notes every week of councilors, to play on radio and a weekily update on what each SRC member has done. This is another way we as the SRC agreed on as a way of transparency and accountability
  • 21st  August- assisted the Project Manager with I am a woman-Assisted Madame Project Manager with the I am a woman poster at the kaif were we got student to tell us their stories and have them written
  • Attendant 5 dining hall-SRC every year just before SRC election divide itself into groups and visits Dining Halls and encourage students to run for Students Representative Council
  • 8th of August 2018- Travelling to Johannesburg for Khensani Maseko’s funeral-A few members of the SRC alumina and current SRC decided to accompany the SRC President and the Vice Chancellor to attend the Funeral of the late Khensani Maseko , which took place on the 9th August 2018. This was to show respect and support to the family of Khesani Maseko.
  • 10th of August 2018- Attendant two memorial services-The members of the SRC attended two memorials at St. Mary chapel, of two late Rhode’s students. One took place in the morning at 10 am and second memorial took place in the afternoon at 2pm
  • Create posters and advertise for council-I created poster for council members when they have events. The Enviromental council, Community Engagement council, Project manager, Treasurer Genaral had poster creted for them last term and advertise all events that have to do with council events.
  • Wall booking, the wall behind the library-Have booked the wall for SRC members and societies to paint on it and make sure that the wall is painted white for the next person to paint on it.
