Serena Chaudhry Pandey is a former war correspondent turned global communications expert. A proud Rhodes University alumna with a Bachelor of Journalism degree since 2007, her career spans the diverse industries of media and technology. 

Serena began her professional journey in the field of journalism, covering major global events from the Iraq War to Brexit and Nelson Mandela's death. Her innovative spirit shone at Reuters, where she launched groundbreaking digital products like Africa Journal and Captioned Video, and at BBC News, she left her mark by producing several flagship television programmes.

In 2020, Serena embraced the tech industry, joining Dataminr to lead a team in advancing Artificial Intelligence for real-time information dissemination. Today, as the Head of Communications for EMEA and APAC at commercetools, she plays a pivotal role in shaping the narrative of digital commerce worldwide. Her expertise extends to the global conference stage, where Serena is a renowned moderator and host at events like CogX and Web Summit, leading discussions around the future of AI and technology. 

In her role as a trustee of the Rhodes University Trust UK, Serena embodies the ethos of leadership, mentorship and commitment to diversity and inclusion, leveraging her vast experience to contribute to the Trust's mission. Her accolades, including recognition from the Asian Women of Achievement Awards and her status as a Freeman of the City of London and Information Technologists, reflect her dedication to positive change, while her contributions as a Trustee for the WCIT Charity and fellowships with the John Schofield Trust and Raisina Dialogue underscore her passion for nurturing future leaders and advancing the global community.
