Learning and leading to a sustainable future
Rhodes University is committed to playing a leading role in the Eastern Cape and South Africa with respect to environmental concerns, in order to promote practices that support a safe, healthy and sustainable environment. To this end, Rhodes seeks to pursue a policy of environmental best practice, and include environmental considerations in decisions relating to the University's curricula, research and management policies.

A Green Call to Action to mark Nelson Mandela Day on Monday 18 July!
The IERM (Institute of Environment and Recreation Management) has issued a green call to action to local authorities to pledge their support to planting trees, beautifying road islands and cleaning sporting facilities, parks or water bodies.

Earth Hour. For the Planet. By the People.
Rhodes University staff and students will be joining forces to celebrate Earth Hour this Saturday, 26 March. Earth Hour is an international event, organized by WWF, involving close to 5 million supporters in over 100 countries around the world.
