Fine Arts Ethics Application

All research in the department of Fine Art (4th year – PhD, as well as staff, and post doctorial research) which involves human and/or live animal subjects, must obtain ethical clearance from RUESC.

Applications for Ethical clearance are centrally submitted via the Ethical Review Application System (ERAS) link:

https://www.ru.ac.za/researchgateway/ethics/applyforresearchethicsreview/

Applications will typically require:

  • Research Proposal
  • Participant Information Sheet
  • Informed Consent Form
  • Gatekeeper Permission Form (if pertinent)

Examples of the latter three, are available from Ethics Departmental Representative: Rat Western.  However, it is important that these documents are specifically relevant (both in permissions sort and language utilised) to the research and research subjects.  Questions and notice of submission to ERAS should also be communicated to Rat Western: n.western@ru.ac.za
