Mandela Rhodes Scholarship

Siseko H. Kumalo, a former student of the Fine Art Department has been awarded the Mandela Rhodes Scholarship for his studies in 2017. He will read for his Bachelor of Social Science Honours in Politics and Philosophy at Rhodes University with the intention of working towards a Masters in Philosophy of Education. He has published with the Southern African Journal of Environmental Education, on Problematising Development in Sustainability – Epistemic Justice through an African Ethic. He continues to work in education reform and writes on decolonial theory and higher education transformation, and is the convenor for the conference Democratic Violence: Power, Legitimacy and Injustice in Higher Education which will be held at Rhodes University in March 2017. We wish him all the best with his studies
