D.D. Siwisa will soon be officially opening their new library, this is thanks to Dr Anna Tshuma Nkomo who undertook her PhD research at the school.
Dr Nkomo developed a proposal to funders for reading resources for the school. She received a donation of R100 000 from Switzerland, upon receiving this she partnered with Breadline Africa, a Cape Town based NGO which focuses on mobile libraries. They donated R100 000 which enabled Dr Nkomo and the school to purchase a refurbished container worth R200 000 and 200 books to start up the library. The library is not yet officially opened but the container has already been mounted at the school.
It is pleasing to note how Dr Nkomo’s research findings are impacting on the ground.
