The CSD is excited to welcome back, on campus, its part-time, in-service BEd FP students for the first time since January 2020! The face-to-face contact session ran from 27 June 2022 to 9 July 2022. The following groups are on campus:

  • 89 foundation year students, (34 Northern Cape teachers funded by SIOC-cdt, and 55 teachers from the Eastern Cape, funded by the ETDP-SETA).
  • 104 first year students (all from the Eastern Cape funded by the ETDP-SETA and ECDoE).
  • 26 second year students (25 teachers from the Northern Cape funded by SIOC-cdt)
  • 63 third year students (38 teachers funded by ECDoE, 19 teachers from the Northern Cape funded by SIOC-cdt, 6 self-funded teachers)

The welcoming programme was held on Monday 27 June 2022 morning to welcome these students to Rhodes University and on campus for the 1st time. In attendance we had the HOD, Dr Lise Westaway, Prof. Ken Ngcoza representing the CSD’ Board, Mr Mpumzi Mgijima representing the ETDP-SETA, and Mrs Nomawonga Matya from the ECDoE.

We are all excited to see our part time students back on campus!
