Northern Cape B.Ed. (Part-Time) Foundation Phase group attends a contact session at Rhodes University

The third year part-time students from The Northern Cape came to Rhodes University, Grahamstown, on Sunday 2 April 2017 for a contact session that lasted a week. During this week the students attended a variety of lectures including computer literacy classes. Many students are computer illiterate and have limited access to computers in their schools. This makes it difficult for them to type assignments as required by the university and also to communicate effectively with university staff via emails. A total of twenty (20) lectures were presented and nine (9) assignments were given.

The students were taken to the Albany Museum on Tuesday, 4 April 2017 to learn about mammals and dinosaurs. Thereafter, they were given an assignment to develop a theme about either mammals or dinosaurs in their own classrooms using the pictures and information gathered at the museum. They appreciated this so much and were eager to implement the theme with their learners.
