NO ARRESTS YET AFTER RHODES UNIVERSITY 'ARSON ATTACK'

CAPE TOWN - Grahamstown police are still searching for suspects behind an alleged arson attack at Rhodes University.

The institution's management says a fire was started at a basement entrance of the main administration building in the early hours of yesterday morning.

This has caused damage to electrical and communications lines in the section of the building.

The police's Mali Govender says a security guard was able to douse the fire before it was able to spread.

“At this stage, we’re not certain on what was used to cause the fire. We are investigating and have no arrests at the moment.”
