Last Friday night, the Africa Media Matrix was full of familiar faces as we celebrated the academic success of our 2010 JMS graduates (now official members of the JMS alumni network), at our annual graduation cocktail function.
Almost 200 guests including graduates, their families and JMS staff members gathered to celebrate this incredible achievement and reminisce about 'old times'. The evening was characterised by delicious food, good wine and great conversation.
In her welcome address, Anthea Garman - Acting Head of The School of Journalism and Media Studies, highlighted the fact that this incredible accomplishment was not achieved in isolation. The broader community which created this ideal environment for studying should also be acknowledged.
Details of the JMS alumni network (and the role of our sponsor, Telkom) were explained to attendees.
