History

The Kimberley Hall was split into 2 halls in 2008, viz., Kimberley East comprising Piet Retief, Chris Hani (newly built, and opened in 2008), Thomas Pringle, and Walker Houses, and Kimberley West comprising De Beers, Goldfields, Cullen Bowles and Rosa Parks.

 Kimberley East was renamed Miriam Makeba Hall, in 2013.

The first Hall warden of Kimberley East was Michael Naidoo, who had previously been the warden of Salisbury House, in Allan Webb Hall. Michael Naidoo also carried over the Kimberley East Hall to Miriam Makeba Hall.
