Ms Lucky Mosia- Xaba works as a Librarian as well as the Coordinator of the Teacher Resource Centre. She also teaches B.Ed FP year 1 at the Education Department and is involved in the running of information literacy programs at Rhodes Libraries and Education. She studied Library and Information Science at the University of KwaZulu Natal with Masters degree as the highest qualification and currently working on a postgraduate Diploma in Higher Education (Rhodes). Miss Xaba started Wardening Canterbury Annex House at the beginning of 2019.  She is a loving   mother of 3 girls and 1 boy and grandmother of 3 boys 1 girl, a sister, and an aunt to many. Her interest is in women's growth and independence. She believes that it doesn’t matter where you come from but what matters is where you are heading. That each day is a gift and an opportunity to plan. She is a loving and compassionate person and loves to motivate and give students hope to believe in themselves that hard work is the result of success. Her residence vision is to help students to settle home away from home and understand that home is what you make for yourself in order to be productive and successful.  Respecting one another is important so as adjusting and blending as well as to understanding that people are not the same. The aim is academic progression and ensuring student retention at Rhodes University and in the residence system.

Dr Yusuf Motara

 

Dr Yusuf Motara

 

Dr Yusuf Motara earned his PhD in Computer Science from Rhodes University and shares the Warden's Flat with his wife, Mrs Shehnaaz Asmal-Motara, who is the Faculty Officer of the Faculty of Education; they have four children together.  Dr Motara has been the Warden of Winchester House since 2019 and has lectured at Rhodes University in the Department of Computer Science for over a decade.  He is an avid reader and aims to guide the young men of Winchester House to the academic success that each of them is capable of.

Ms Lisa Maholo

Ms. Lisa Maholo is a Mandela Rhodes Scholar. She completed her MCom in Management from Rhodes University and shared the Truo House warden flat with her fiance, Dr Xolile Antoni, and their daughter. She has been in the warden system since 2014. She has been the warden of Truro since 2017 and Hall warden for Allan Webb Hall since 2019. She is a lecturer in the Department of Management. Her interests include student and staff retention in institutions of higher education. She has been instrumental in building a culture in the Hall where students experience home away from home and are enabled to grow socially and academically.
