Rhodes University Library (RUL) celebrates South African Library Week (SALW) 2024 under the theme: Libraries Fostering Social Cohesion

As part of Celebrating SALW the following events will take place:

Amnesty Week 18-22 March 2024

Libraries play a crucial role in fostering social cohesion, and as a center of knowledge exchange and sharing RUL provides the opportunity for long overdue library materials to be returned to the RU libraries without being charged.

Please bring back your overdue items and we will waive your fines.

Read Aloud Day Campaign 19 March 2024

Rhodes University Library Celebrates South African Library Week 2024 by engaging in read-aloud sessions with the Grade 1 learners from 4 various Makhanda schools. When social cohesion is strong it brings about positive change and benefits for everyone. We aim to build the well-being of Grade 1 learners and prepare their sense of belonging.

Schools to be covered are Samuel Ntlebi Primary School, SDA Primary School, Makana Primary School, and CM Vellem Primary School.
