Prof Noel Pearse

PhD(Rhodes), MSocSci(UCT)


Noel lectures primarily in the fields of People Management, Leadership and Research Methodology, and his research interests lie mainly in the areas of tacit knowledge, staff retention, voluntary organisations, management education, organisational change and leadership.

He completed his undergraduate and post-graduate degrees while studying full time at the University of Cape Town, graduating with a BBusSc (Personnel Management), a BA (Hons), and a MSocSc (Industrial and Organisational Psychology) degree. More recently, he completed part time studies at Rhodes University, where he graduated with a PhD (Education) degree.

He is a registered Industrial Psychologist with the Professional Board of Psychology of the Health Professions Council of South Africa. Prior to joining Rhodes University, he practised as an Industrial Psychologist and internal consultant in the South African Medical Services, and was particularly involved with organisational development, selection, the development and administering of survey instruments, and test construction and validation. He has consulted to, and conducted training on behalf of government departments, NGO’s and private companies, including extensive work with an Original equipment Manufacturer (OEM) in the automotive industry and in automotive retail.
