Project Title
How decomposition of water hyacinth (Pontederia crassipes) impacts the water column

Supervisors: Prof. Julie Coetzee, Dr. Kelby English

Rochelle is looking at the rate of decay of water hyacinth at Hartbeespoort Dam and how this affects the water chemistry in an already-polluted water system

Rochelle studied Zoology up until her honours year until she discovered biological control in a gap year. "It’s weird to think that I once thought “bugs were icky” and now I am absolutely in love with the critters"
