Community Engagement

Good Shepherd Primary School

The Rhodes University Chinese Studies Section recognises the importance and value of Community Engagement in Makhanda.  A community engagement programme was launched six years ago with Good Shepherd Primary School.  Once a week in the Rhodes term time, Chinese teachers teach Grades four to six  learners Chinese language through games and songs, and encourage language learning with the Chinese Club.

 

Diocesan School for Girls and St Andrew’s College

The Rhodes University Chinese Studies Section recognises the importance and value of community engagement in Makhanda.  Another community engagement programme  also was launched six  years ago with Diocesan School for Girls and St Andrew’s College. Our Chinese teacher,Ms Fu Shuying,mainly teaches the second additional language of Chinese as a foreign language and the first additional language of Chinese as a first additional language in grade 8 to 12 at Diocesan School for Girls and St Andrew’s College.
