Rhodes Celebrates International Heritage

The International Community at Rhodes University celebrated Heritage Day on September 24th. As part of the commemorations, Show Me Your Roots was held at the Great Hall. This event is a collaborative effort between International Office, the Zulu Society and the Student Affairs Division. In an effort to encourage intercultural activity and facilitate a space for all to share and teach their heritage this event. international students cook cultural cuisine from their home countries and share about where the food comes from as well as other information about their home country and culture.

International Student groups this years included Ghana, Lesotho, China, Malawi, Zambia, Zimbabwe and the Eastern African block (Tanzania, Kenya, Rwanda and Burundi). Vegetables from across the continent were sourced and brought together to form the most succulent of dishes.

Show Me Your Roots has been run on this format for three years now and encourages all members of the University community to meet, interact and create new experiences.
