Dr Rebecca Powell

Rebecca Powell
Engaged research around issues of sustainable water resources use and management in the Eastern Cape of South Africa is my current research interest. I am also interested in social learning processes amongst a range of stakeholders facing local water resources management issues.

I have qualifications in river and wetland geomorphology and rehabilitation (MSc and PhD). I have previously worked on a GEF5 Sustainable Land Management Project in the Eastern Cape of South Africa (2017-2020). At present I support project activities under the ‘Resilient Benefits for African Water Resources Project (RESBEN)’ in the ARUA Water Centre of Excellence, which is housed at the Institute for Water Research. In this project I have worked closely with our Tanzania partners supporting their research around equitable water allocation in the Rufiji Basin, Tanzania.
