Rhodes Journalism alumnus Judy Bryant, owner of Judy Bryant Communications in Cape Town, is promoting the African Creative Economy Conference (Cape Town 6-9 October) for the Cape Craft & Design Institute. Bryant was classmates with former Rhodes Professor Guy Berger and editor-in-chief of Business Day, Peter Bruce. Bryant says, "This conference will draw creative professionals, analysts and thought leaders from throughout Africa and the globe to Cape Town, so it’s an amazing opportunity to help showcase what huge talent, entrepreneurial drive and potential this continent has. The programme aims to focus attention not only on Africa’s creative industries as economic drivers; it will also highlight their potential contribution to the eradication of poverty and underpinning democracy and human rights.
