Postdoctoral research: Siliciclastic and organic sedimentology and geochemistry

Biographical

Kenneth Chukwuma received his Ph.D. in sedimentology and geochemistry at the University of Cape Town. His research focuses on the origin and formation processes of sedimentary rocks with emphasis on siliciclastic and organic-rich sediments. Ken integrates sedimentological, geochemical and geophysical data to quantify and predict the occurrence of sediment-hosted economic resources with emphasis on oil and gas reservoirs. Ken also develops and applies reactive transport models at both field and laboratory scale to assess and quantify anthropogenic impacts on a wide range of geological applications, such as CO₂ storage, disposal of used nuclear fuel, hydraulic stimulation of petroleum reservoirs, and circulation of aqueous fluids.
