Andisiwe Mthatyana is currently reading for a Masters degree at the Department of Political & International Studies under the supervision of Prof. L. Vincent. Her dissertation focuses on sexuality, schooling and gender.

She obtained a Bachelor of Social Science (Honours) in Political & International Studies from Rhodes University in 2010. In 2011 she took a career change and enrolled for Postgraduate Diploma in Management Information Systems at the University of Cape Town and also worked as Business Analyst Intern. After completing the course at the University of Cape Town she returned back to her alma mater (Rhodes University) to read for a masters degree.
