Nicola completed a B.A. (Hons) in Speech, Language and Hearing Therapy at Wits before practicing for many years and raising a family. She returned to university in 2009 to study Psychology at Rhodes, and is currently working on a Master’s thesis on narratives of ‘adolescent’ sexuality, supported by a Mellon scholarship. Her particular interests lie in the manners in which dominant discourses are reproduced, re-worked, and/or resisted in conversations, and the implications that this discursive work has for subjectivities and power relations.

Apart from studying, Nicola has a part-time speech-language therapy practice in Grahamstown, and enjoys time with her family.
