The Company was commissioned by Nedbank to choreograph a piece for the launch of their “Winter for Warmth” Campaign during the National Arts Festival 2014. The campaign aimed to supply thousands of blankets to the impoverished and homeless all around South Africa. The Nedbank Winter Campaign closing event aimed to recap the journey Nedbank embarked on to donate blankets across the country whilst encouraging fellow citizens to do their part in making a warmer winter happen for the vulnerable members of society-particularly women, orphaned and vulnerable children and the elderly. During the event the 10 paintings pledged to the campaign by the Living Artist Emporium were revealed by means of a dynamic dance performance, after which they were auctioned off and the monies raised were used to buy more blankets for beneficiaries.
Anyone can contribute R20 towards the blanket drive by sms-ing the word ‘winter’ to 40017, or donate a minimum of R100 to Nedbank Savings Account: 2001120915 using “Winter” as the reference.Source: First Physical Theatre Company
