This is a multidiscipline program that aims to recover water and nutrients from organic effluent streams produced by industry, using sustainable technologies such as algal ponding, constructed wetlands, hydroponic vegetable and fish production. The project demonstrates that industrial effluent treatment need not be an environmental and economic liability to industry and that the treatment process can become an income generating stream.
