Channel's PhD examined responsible data practices in an SRH mobile application enabling youth across six SADC nations to report sexual and reproductive health issues. Using Zambia as a case study, the research reveals significant challenges in privacy protection, consent processes, and understanding of data rights among stakeholders. The findings highlight gaps in existing data governance frameworks and recommend clearer contextual boundaries, comprehensive data policies, and improved consent procedures to enhance transparency and accountability while supporting youth engagement in SRH service delivery and policymaking. Examiners noted that the study makes a significant contribution to the Information Systems discipline, policy, and practice by advancing discussions on responsible data use in digital health, accountability, and citizen participation, offering substantial insights that are both theoretical and practical.
