Prince Alfred House kick started the year with a bang as our partner site (Noncedo nursery school) had the following goals for us to achieve

• Gardening
• Painting
• School Readiness

Gardening: The goal was achieved within two weeks. Edible plants, along with flowers were planted at the site. This was the beginning of teamwork.

Painting: The school building was painted with fun-filled animation characters like Spongebob, the Powerpuff Girls, Pikachu from Pokemon and so forth. The painting brought “life” to the nursery school. As Drostdy Hall, we fundraised money to purchase painting equipment.

School Readiness: Stationery was purchased and placed into packets and handed out to the children. This was by far the most important endeavor as the school helps children to develop important skills, knowledge and values that set them up for further learning and participation in their community.

Other Projects:

We held a movie day at res for Noncedo and screened “Toy Story” for the children. This project was an ice breaker between the PA Ladies and the kids from our partner site. Goodies like juice, marshmallows and popcorn were served.

Clothes drive: throughout the semester in res, clothes were collected for donation purposes. These clothes were sold on a weekend to the Drostdy Hall family for fund raising purposes. The proceeds from this clothes drive helped with the funding for school readiness.
