Hobson Dining Hall
At Rhodes University, Hobson Hall Catering staff ensure that students and staff enjoy nutritious, well-balanced meals daily. These meals are prepared in a safe, hygienic, and welcoming environment, supporting academic excellence through quality dining experiences.
All campus Dining Halls offer meals from the same carefully curated menu, with students having the flexibility to personalize their dining experience through a user-friendly Meal Booking System.
Meal Booking System (ROSS)
Our computerized Meal Booking System empowers students to select their preferred meals and dietary options. For meal options and bookings, visit: [Meal Booking System (ROSS)].
- Menu Rotation: A 14-day cycle offers a total of 140 unique meal options, ensuring variety and satisfaction.
- Booking Changes: Meal selections must be updated on ROSS at least 48 hours in advance.
- Packed Meals: Students can complete a Packed Meal Form if the mealtimes clash with the academic program.
The Dining Hall caters to a wide range of dietary preferences with five daily options, including:
- Default
- African
- Halaal
- Vegetarian
- Health Platter
(Quick-service/fast-food options are incorporated into the Default menu.)
Dining Hall Mealtimes:
Breakfast
- Weekdays: 07:00 – 08:15
- Saturdays, Sundays, and Public Holidays: 08:00 – 09:15
Lunch
- Weekdays: 12:00 – 14:00
- Saturdays, Sundays, and Public Holidays: 12:00 – 13:30
Note: A bell rings at 13:30 for "seconds" service. A second bell at 13:45 signals the Dining Hall's closure.
Supper
- Every evening: 17:00 – 18:30
