Each residence at Hobson Hall has a dedicated House Committee responsible for creating a vibrant, inclusive, and supportive community. The committee plays a crucial role in planning activities, facilitating communication between students and other residences, and promoting a well-rounded residence experience.
Responsibilities
- Promoting key values, including academic excellence, community engagement, and diversity.
- Addressing the needs and concerns of students within the residence.
- Organizing and managing events and activities for the residence.
- Representing the interests of their residents in collaboration with other residents.
Portfolios
The House Committee consists of various portfolios, each with specific responsibilities to ensure the smooth running of residence life:
- Head Student: Provides overall leadership and guidance to the committee and residence.
- Academic & Student Networking Representative: Focuses on academic support and technology-related needs within the residence.
- Social Engagement Representative: Plans and organizes social events to foster community bonding.
- Community Engagement Representative: Coordinates initiatives that contribute to the local community and promote volunteerism.
- Transformation Representative: Advocates for inclusivity, diversity, and social justice within the residence.
- Wellness Representative: Promotes physical, mental, and emotional well-being among residents.
- Secretary & Treasurer Representative: Manages administrative tasks, meeting minutes, and financial matters for the committee.
- Environmental Representative: Leads sustainability initiatives and promotes eco-friendly practices in the residence.
- Sports Representative: Organizes sports events and encourages participation in physical activities.
- Internationalization Representative: Supports international students and promotes cultural exchange within the residence.
