Summary:

I am motivated by the Desire to Create Impact through solving society challenges especially those related to water. I am skilled in the management of the environment and currently gaining skills in ecotoxicology and general management of the water resource. After my current degree, I would like to start a social enterprise that addresses challenges like water access, water quality, governance and innovation. I would also love to work with international bodies like UN Water in addressing global challenges. Furthermore, I would love to pursue a PhD and contribute to research and teaching the next generation of water resource managers.

Research:

Currently, my research is on the effect of acute and sublethal toxicity on some aquatic organisms. Since the 1970s, farmers in west Africa have been encouraged to apply chemical pesticides and herbicides for example Triazine to their crops as an insurance against pests and weeds respectively, to increase production and profitability. These chemicals are transported to water bodies through run off thus affecting different aquatic organisms. This research is therefore aimed at assessing the impact of the acute and sublethal toxicity on some aquatic organisms and thus make available the knowledge needed to improve agricultural practices and management of aquatic resources. I have previously conducted research on the role of Entebbe botanical gardens in the conservation of vascular plants in Uganda. This research provided citizens, researchers, policy makers and administrators with information on the status of species diversity and composition of vascular plants under conservation, and the extent to which Entebbe botanic gardens contributed to the conservation of vascular plants in Uganda. It also provided relevant information on the challenges faced in the management of the facility and suggested possible measures to aid in ecology and conservation biology

Organisations and Awards:

I am currently a member of the United Nations Major Group for children and youth, and SDG 7 Youth Constituency. I am also a member of iNaturalist, a joint initiative of the California Academy of Sciences and National Geographic Society. Furthermore, I am a member of a local Youth group in Uganda called Genesis creation, aimed at Creating an Environmentally Conscious Generation that is Informed, Empowered and Proactive.

Skills and Expertise:

I have skills in Computer applications, Research, Environmental management, water quality and general management of the water resource.

Courses:

I have previously done a course in Nature based Solutions for Disaster and Climate Resilience developed by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and the Partnership for Environment and Disaster Risk Reduction (PEDRR). In the future I will be interested in taking Courses in Artificial Intelligence and Computer Programming, Geographic Information Systems and a PhD in Hydrobiology.
