The Phelophepa Psycholoy Clinic on board the Transnet Phelophepa Health Care Train aims to assist individuals from some of the most deprived communities in SA by firstly offering solution focused individual counselling. Secondly, through its outreach programme, a variety of experiential and interactive psycho-educational workshops are delivered to children in schools as well as adult community members (Source: Phelophepa Health Care Train Annual Report 2008). The Rhodes University Psychology Department had been informally involved and supportive of the Phelophepa Health Care Train Psychology Clinic for a number of years now but only recently formalised its relationship with Phelophepa. Six Psychology Trainees spent, in pairs, 2 weeks each on the train during 2009. They gained invaluable experience on the train during this placement and we are honoured to be associated with such an endeavour of international acclaim.
