Takunda graduated with a Bachelor of Social Science (Human Resource Management)-Cum-laude, Bachelor of Social Science (Hons) Sociology both from University of Fort Hare. I joined Rhodes University in 2011 pursuing a Master of Social Science in Sociology. Currently I am a second year PhD candidate working on a thesis entitled “Livelihood Strategies of Female-Headed Households in the former Bantustans of Post-Apartheid South Africa: The cases of Nonaliti and KwaNdindwa in Eastern Cape”. For my entire postgraduate academic life I have focused on rural development and livelihoods in both Zimbabwe and South Africa.
